Be careful to compact your folders in Thunderbird often, otherwise you
may lose some emails. You can set it to be done automatically. I once
lost my inbox :-(

attachment to the post . This requires me to open the post,
then open the attachment to read his message - painfully troublesome.
I think the reason is he (they) are sending html messages to the
group - Maybe try "plain text" for this group
and see if that helps
