Thanks a lot Dean for that very complete answer !

The thing is I want to be as independent as possible, just having a 1900 like with France Telecom and a pbx with an online credit card billing service..

I think I need a pbx to manage the waiting queue as people in the queue have to hear the person talking with the clairvoyant and for the 30min. sessions system. So I think it is cheaper to have it in my home than paying an external service.

So I thought I needed a card...

But you say that it would be easier to have a SIP system but that implies to have a SIP service provider for the connection with the PSTN. Isn't it cheaper to do everything by myself at home ?

Sorry if I'm not very clear...

Thanks again for the time you take to answer me.

Hi Ben,
To be honest I couldn't understand what you were missing about the question.

You don't necessarily need to buy any cards to get phone lines connected, just
use a SIP carrier

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/VOIP+Service+Providers+B2B France Acropolis Telecom Providing DID and toll free number in all Europe. Also good termination prices in all Europe. Bluesat Asterisk to/from PSTN gateway with low rates, French DID numbers, call termination DirectCentrex Provinding all VOIP services, DID, toll free, termination ... http://www.opencentrex.com Providing DID and toll free number as well as Fax2Mail, Mail2Fax, IP Centrex and IPBX. Plug & Tel: Provides Telecom Solutions for operators, distributors, resellers (Termination,Origination,IPBx, Centrex IP, Callshops, Call Center, Switchless...and more). Proformatique SSLL Invents, develops or adapts free software based solutions like Asterisk Super Phone France:Super Technologies France division, provides US local phone service, broadband calls in France. VTELCOM SIP/IAX termination, French DID XIVO XIVO provides VOIP solutions based on Asterisk

Or if you have the 1900 number already being delivered to an ISDN line then
http://www.digium.com/en/products/hardware/te110p.php

Or if you have it delivered to a PSTN line and don't expect a high volume of
calls then this

am I missing something about your question?

Cheers, Dean

Yes, your remark is clever, I'll think about it.

Basicaly the idea was to use an overtaxed france telecom number.

Anyway, we'll need to have a credit card billing solution for "private
sessions".

For the moment, my main question is which card should I buy ?

Thanks again

Ahh French...the language of the world.....dont think France only.

Regarding billing, how are you billing at the moment? A 1900 service or
similar?
Yes you would have to bill via credit card or similar, but it would also
open up your potential market to non France telecom 1900 customers.

Cheers,

Dean

Hi Ben,
You might also want to check out

http://www.mexuar.com/products_sdk.shtml or http://www.voip-
info.org/wiki/view/Mexuar

This will enable you to connect people to your asterisk server via the

web, eg instead of someone dialing to connect to the clairvoyant they
could connect from anywhere in the world via a browser to a meetme
session
(the clairvoyant could also use the same service to connect or just
dial
in via pstn/sip like normal).

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the link and infos but it is a french only service so the
worldwide availability doesn't seem to be useful.

Anyway that is an option that must be thought.

The other problem would be the payment, that would imply a credit card
billing webpage.

Sounds like an adult hotline?

Lol, not at all it is for a clairvoyance service.

What is the cheapest card I could get ?

Are you thinking about connecting a phoneline to an Asterisk box?

Yes indeed, a basic computer (ie a P3 800) with a pbx card.

If possible, I'd rather look into getting the incoming calls
delivered
using SIP. That way, you don't need any hardware, but just an
Asterisk box and an internet connection.

Ok, so it would be possible that the box handles simultaneously
something like 15 calls in the way : 1 is speaking to the clairvoyant
while 14 are listening ? Each one gets 30 minutes with a queue based
on
who phoned first.

Let me know if I can help out with some pointers.

I've got basic knowledge about telephony (pots, voip...), good

knowledge

about signal routing but help for the choice of the card would be
greatly appreciated
