And who are you exactly Dave? Unusual process for a deployment this size
with so much Asterisk activity in China?

Mark,
It's a bit convoluted so I didn't want to confuse things in my original
post. It's no secret or anything, so, since you've asked:

I'm just a regular IT professional in Canada. (I'm not a recruiter or
anything) A long time colleague of mine recently moved to China to head up
his company's IT operations there. Since I have some experience with
telephony he asked me for some advice and, after some discussion, I
suggested Asterisk.

In the process of finding an installer, we found the list of providers in
his region on voip-info.org and other sources to be smaller than I would
expect. As you say, there should be lots of Asterisk activity in the
Shanghai area. I was surprised at how little I turned up, so, I offered to
post to this list for him.

I guess the process might seem a bit unusual but neither my friend nor I are
plugged in to the local Asterisk community in China and this seemed like a
good way to put the opportunity out there and find a company that he can
work with.

I hope this addresses your question/concern. Please let me know if there's
anything more specific that you are interested in.

Dave
