Tim Panton did some work with Savaje mobile phone. Basically because the
hardware was never designed for it the project was technically never
able to be completed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Apple was similar
because of the tie in with the carriers.

 

They don't want you using data for voip - get over it and choose a
different brand manufacturer.

There is not yet, but some work being done on it.  Still some technical
hurdles to be handled on accessing the audio devices on the iphone
properly, the rest is comparatively trivia (and mostly already working).
