I have some GoDaddy dedicated servers for personal use, they are real dedicated servers. The biggest problem I have with GoDaddy is that all outgoing mail has to be relayed through one of their mailservers, so you can't do any SMTP reverse account lookups or use SMTP TLS.
Voxilla has some dedicated servers with Liquid Web http://www.liquidweb.com/.
