Yes I patched 5.4 for c4b and it seems to work.
you can get the new chan_capi version from here
http://www.junghanns.net/asterisk/downloads/chan_capi-0.4.0-PRE1.tar.gz
The only thing I am stuck on is what the def for _cword is which I notice is
still in your port.
If I get time I will have a more detailed look.

Only small changes needed...
the original LINUX version had some wrong coded lines (like reading from
the writing side of a pipe, that is working on LINUX because they are
using unix sockets for pipe implementation) that should be fixed by Mr.
Junghanns (i sent him the patches).
Additionally you need to use some CAPI4BSD headers, i try to make a
patch for 0.4 if you tell me where to download from (pls gimme some
days, cause my development notebook has burned out and I need to code on
my server :( ).
Do you have C4B already installed?

Jan,
Have you tried CHAN_CAPI.0.4.PRE1 I notice it has some FreeBSD support
in chan_capi.c. I can't use your port as I run CVS head which needs the
newer version. I can't compile this newer version with asterisk cvs
head. What should I redfine _cword to be?

Hi,
you can use any AVM active card (e.g. AVM B1 for a single BRI) and
chan_capi for this purpose.
You need my ports found on http://www.shellbang.org
