I have only ever used the ports version once, that was right at the start of my BSD/Asterisk adventures, since then I have *only* used to the SVN version. I would never *simple* ignore the advise here, there are people on this list that a lot more about this than me. >>Also, the version of asterisk in the latest FreeBSD port is 1.0.9 Yeap I don't use that ,1.2.1 compiles nicely on my BSD machines. >>Recently there have been several posts to the list regarding the latest >>asterisk release, version 1.2.1, released on 12-7-05. Usually the question >>is '..when will the port be updated..' I think the developers are doing a great job and the port will be ready when it's ready. With each version they bring out, I will patiently try, and post the issues. At the moment, my issues are SMP support and as soon as zaptel loads it dumps NMI ISA 30, EISA ff to the syslog, and basicly turns into a disk filling service. I'm not complaining :-) at least I hope it doesn't appear that way. I am certainly not discounting the issues are down to me. >>Getting and compiling the latest Asterisk Release on FreeBSD is >>very simple, as simple as compiling the port -why not try it and report >>your experience to the list. I have *everytime* most of the time I don't get a response. My problem has never been with Asterisk itself always zaptel. My latest issue was posted to this list on the 15th Dec @ 12:56. Your yourself replied to me with a comment about using gmake not make and how to check the libs are installed. I have got Zaptel to work on BSD, but it's a pain. For my production machines I use linux. I don't like using Linux since everything else in the server room is BSD. But right now Linux has not given me problems. I even bought a sangoma card, and that runs brilliantly under BSD. Since I already have loads of digium cards, and a small budget, I can`t really afford to throw them away and buy sangoma cards just because the work better under my preferred OS.
