Is it a bad idea to run asterisk without zaptel-bsd? Could I use zaptel from digium (all I need is ztdummy for timing)?

i've still yet to get zaptel-bsd in sync with zaptel-1.2.4, so this will be a while coming. however, the check for "current" version of zaptel is usually to a #define in zaptel.h, which may not be needed for what you want. try faking this with the existing zaptel-bsd zaptel.h and see if it works. of course, ymmv.
