Hello,
I wonder if Asterisk and all its features could work without the use of
specific hardware timing. If it has not been changed recently, IAX
trunking or VoiceMail won't work properly if there is not a zaptel
device installed or at least the ztdummy module loaded (using timing
from USB). Why could not asterisk use by default timing from (software)
rtc ?
If asterisk was really hardware independant it would be much more easy
to run it on virtual servers, isn't it ?
