Well, the source code which did it in Asterisk 11, is still in the commit history. A roll-back of that should be the easiest solution. The question was more about double-checking whether there is a replacement for ASTERISK_VERSION_NUM, which I missed. If, after three Asterisk LTS releases, I am the first one needing this, I can live with my workaround. :)
