To send message other than SMSC we need to have a Gateway MSC (our server) connected to switch /MSC but even in this case there is a limitation on message termination at the Signaling links . if the trafic is full on these back end links even though we have an extra smsc doesnt server the purpose

Subject: Re: [asterisk-ss7] SS7 SMS

Does anyone know is it possible, using SS7 protocol (or any
other actually) to send a message DIRECTLY to a mobile
subscriber, avoiding contact with mobile operator's SMS
centre? For example operator's SMSC is too busy and SMS
message sometimes stays in a queue for hours before getting
delivered. So that would not be suitable for notifying
about emergency cases via SMS for example.

Men,

Just thinking about, I'm getting an impression that SMS
exchange part should be a simple protocol, since does not
control calls/timeslots/etc. So it's implementation just
a question of someone's will.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong)
If anyone has a DOC/URL to an SS7 SMS specific part -
that would be good to post it here.

Anton.
