As far as i know most of Cisco equipment built on QNX Neutrino RTOS
I think it will not be so easy
Probably there is another eeprom (mostly with serial interface) or some sort
of NVRAM (dallas, simtek ... ) with MAC, Serial settings and so on.
(Most equipment i've seen built in this way)
