I have to defend us newbies on this.

This environment does not facilitate sequential knowledge building! You do realize that the http://www.asterisk.org/index.php?menu=support lists the mailing list first for support, don't you. In fact, you have to go to the second page before you even see the google reference. More a few people tend to look for the FIRST way to get help not ALL ways to get help...

PJ, I realized the same and started a process to collect a lot of that information and build a knowledge base on http://www.voip-forum.org/

Click on "Asterisk" on the home page and you'll find a lot of information. On that
web, you'll also
find information I gathered about the rest of the telecom stuff I didn't know anything
about.
So have others. There's plenty of pages with facts, explanations and pointers to find
there.

It's a start, please help us helping other newcomers by adding stuff, questions and
keywords
you don't know. If you haven't got an explanation, create a page named by the term you
don't now and simply add "What's a pyroflax?" on it. Someone will notice and explain
what a pyroflax is...

The environment surrounding the Asterisk Open Source project is built by all of us.
Now, you're part of this environment. Welcome!
