Hmmm. The two versions of Asterisk that I and my customers use are both Open Source.

If, as you imply, Digium's current involvement/contribution to the codebase is minimal, then why couldn't you and others who believe like you do just fork from what is out there right now and just maintain and develop away, as a pure Open Source effort?

I'm not sure I understand why you're so worried, as the codebase we're using is in fact Open Source, and so it can be forked without worry about whatever Digium decides to do with "their" versions of it.
