No, ODBC only. There is little benefit to using any direct access methods for something like this (actually, even the Realtime drivers work just fine with ODBC as well).
Once I get 1.2 out and can start working on res_storage, it would be possible for this functionality to use direct database drivers, but for now it would be entirely too difficult to merge into app_voicemail.
