Yes you can.

In sip.conf you must edit:

register => <user in SIP proxy>:<password in SIP proxy>:<AUTH-ID in SIP
proxy>@<IP of SIP proxy>/<local peer in asterisk where you answer the call>

and you must define a peer for the SIP proxy:

[SIP-proxy]
type=peer
context=<where you have the peer for answer>
secret=<password in SIP proxy>
username=<AUTH-ID in SIP proxy>
fromdomain=<IP of SIP proxy>
canreinvite=yes
dtmfmode=RFC2833
canreinvite=yes
qualify=yes
host=<IP of SIP proxy>
insecure=very
fromuser=<user in SIP proxy>
disallow=all
allow=g729

Finally, to make a call from asterisk yo need in the extension.conf
something like this:

exten => _X.,1,Dial(SIP/SIP-proxy/${EXTEN})

This should work!

Regards.
