What file exactly did you edit? What command did you run? I suspect the
file you have edited got overrun.

I'm not sure you need. Packages from 

  deb http://rapid.dotsrc.org/rapid sarge main

already have ztdummy and ztdummy is on by default in the zaptel-source
package.
