No, these are always created. The mac-phone.cfg file stores any
parameters that may have been manually set directly on the phone. The
mac-directory.xml is where it saves the contact list.

Not to my knowledge, but that would be a nice feature. It's my
impression that it only creates these files if it can't find config
files that you create for it, is that right?
