Hmmm,

I am total newb here, but it makes me nervous that your releases are coming so quickly?
Also the above (two versions with the same number) seems unacceptable.

Total newbs should be very circumspect, IMO, about the prospect of being remembered by the developers as people who walk into a forum and start dispensing critical advice in their very first posts.

There's a lot going on out there, and mistakes happen. This is Open Sourceland, too; many many people working on the project are doing so as volunteers in time they have to squeeze out of very busy professional lives.

I have run CVS-HEAD in production for over two years. In that time I think there have been two or three cases where this propensity has led me to encounter problems. It's well worth it to do this in order to provide good feedback to developers about the performance of the code.

The slipup was primarily a function of the developers trying to meet the demand of the "public" to get the 1.2 code out the door. Criticizing something everyone acknowledges already isn't really adding anything useful to this discussion.
