Hello all, The errors was due to incorrect coding/framing specified on zaptel.conf. The below settings worked.
span=1,1,0,ccs,hdb3 bchan=1-15 dchan=16 bchan=17-31 BTW, digium support confirmed that the hardward hdlc patch wont work in this case and it is for doing data over the ports.
