That mem line didn't show the amount of memory cached, which is subtracted from used memory to get an approximate count of application memory.

It is more complicated to get an exact count since part of that cached memory is mmapped executable code and data. Not to mention shared memory because of libraries and other details.

You're right, asterisk isn't using that much memory and I didn't think about that enough.
