I am working with one now. As far as I have gotten is that I can authenticate against asterisk but then can't make a call. I will be spending more time on this this week. Too many projects.
I don't know what price you're looking at but Mitel just dropped the price of these phones to be pretty much the same as their regular Minet IP phones so they may be even cheaper than you think. Also early next year Mitel will be releasing new software for their 5220 phone which will allow it to dual boot between Minet and SIP.
