Asterisk already supports SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY, but the Polycom firmware will only watch seven buddies using SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY. This support is present in Asterisk 1.2, and will be present in ABE version B later this spring.
For going beyond seven watched buddies, Asterisk will need to support the relevant portion of SIP-B, which we are working on as we get time.
