Are you using the ferrite chokes provided with the phone? They should be clamped onto BOTH cables, as close to the phone as possible.

Works fine here, with an IP501, 2.6.2 bootrom and 1.6.3 SIP.  Was
using ethernet port for a while, even downloading large files through
it without any hiccups.
