True, but why not accept the app? It sure makes the dial plan alot
easier to read. Why not make things easy when possible, rather than
forcing a newer user to have to jump through all sorts of hoops to
implement a simple feature like this.

In addition, using the dialplan to do this can make a mess of your CDRs, whereas an application can take better control of that situation.
