I don't know much about spandsp, but a crash should not happen. Since Asterisk crashes, the problem is not the divas driver. It could be chan-capi, but I don't why this would make a difference, because for chan-capi it is voice data just like with any other voice connection. Can you provide a backtrace to track this problem down?
