I prefer to set 802.1p priority on the switch ports instead of tagging packets by phones capabilities. I use only HP Procurve devices (and I'm very happy...), command is simple:
interface 1 qos priority 6 This priority is a VLAN tag automatically attached to packets and preserved on uplinks.
