I've seen that too on ACTEL P103 phones. Actually didn't even need a lot of network traffic to crash the phone. They just went poof at the blink of an eye. You can test this by hooking up a box with a traffic generator to one of these phones and let it blast for a while. The opposite worked also. I couldn't make them crash anymore after I forced the link to the LAN and the computer to 10Mbit half-duplex.
