After googleing extensively, I now have sip firmware (8.0.2SR1/8.0.3) running on the 7941, 7961 and 7971 and I even have a SEPxxxx.cnf.xml that seems to have everything and works (thanks to articles on www.voip-info.org).
BUT the phones do not register correctly with asterisk. Everything is correct in the SIP communication - the phone does a register, asterisk replies with a 401 Unauthorized, and then the phone sends another register which should contain an line like: Authorization: Digest username="201",realm="my.asterisk.dom"... etc.... This line is missing on the 7941/7961/7971.
