Direct connect.

Why wouldn’t the digital handset have enough juice to power a headset?

Amplifiers are only for analog handsets as far I know.

Does anyone know if there is a way of making the headset louder on the polycom 500's?

The handset volume works fine but I just find the headset a little low even on the highest setting.
