Hi, AFAIK, this isn't an asterisk related problem. We used SATA Disks in early 0.9 and 1.0 Asterisk versions without any problems. I think it has to do with OS and Kernelversions and the hardware you have chosen. Sometimes ago we set up an asterisk server with sata2 (3 Gbit/s) and had permanent kernel panics. After setting the jumpers on the disk to 1,5 Gbit/s transfer rate, every thing worked great. Hope, it helps...
