Yes, likely all you need is to issue one "bt" (backtrace) command
to find the problem.

but I'm a big fan of "ddd" for more complex
debugging, looking at the content of data structures and the like.
DDD is a graphical point and click front end for gdb.  It comes
with many Linux distributions or if not get it at
   http://www.gnu.org/directory/GNU/ddd.html
