Also worth checking is www.tortoisecvs.org - It's CVS that integrates with the windows shell, very nice.. right click, update, commit, checkout, whatever.. you get colour coded icons too showing you file statuses. Should be easy to use for the less command-line proficient whilst still providing the functionality you want.
