Perhaps the solution for this is for the person who is tempted to take the easy way out and say 'check the archives', actually links to the archival message(s) in question. That would be helpful in the max. An added helpful bit would be to include the google search terms they used for finding that item (if applicable). And if we had enough of these references, an index page could be set up to point to these 'well known references', or hidden gems. A reference to this index would be included in the FAQ.
