Whatever kernel modules are loaded does not matter to the build of
chan_zap.so

Tzafrir,

In my experience, the background menuselect (1.4) seems to decide that chan_zap.so is unnecessary if a Zap drive is not loaded. I also manually ran menuselect, and found chan_zap selection "greyed out" - unselectable. Loading a Zap module seems to solve the problem.

Do you have:

  Should be generated by 'make':
channels/chan_zap.so # under the asterisk build directory

Should be copied by 'make install':
    /usr/lib/modules/chan_zap.so
