Yes it will work, but depending on your hardware you might be better off
not using the VPN and just using an IAX trunk over the public Internet
(unless you're really paranoid about someone listening in)
If you have a VPN with good hardware - eg. something with a hardware
encryption engine, you'll be just fine. Beware the cheaper routers with
software VPNs built in - they are rate limited due to the weedy processors
in them and you may find that the processor may take longer or shorter
time to encrypt different packets which will affect jitter. I found this
with Drayteks anyway. Even though there was plenty of bandwidth, under
load things didn't look right (this was actually between 2 polycom video
units 9000 miles apart - California/England) turn the encryption off and
it was perfect, or move to a router whith hardware encryption and it was
also perfect.
You get what you pay for...
