It's not that big a deal - some gui's or third party apps will move to 1.4 some will stay on 1.2
Personally unless there is some compelling reason to move it's makes sense to stay on 1.2 until necessary or functions drive the change. As for AMP staying on 1.2 - what are the real downsides to Asterisk in that happening?
