You'd be better to monitor using something like Nagios or one of the other open-source monitoring systems, then have the notification script (which should be customizable in your monitoring system) write a .call file to make Asterisk dial out and tell the sysadmin. To use the Asterisk dialplan to schedule and cycle checks of services ..... erm..... no. -- j.
