That's a clever idea, and it sounds like a viable solution. But (and not knocking your inventiveness in any way), its a bit of a hack to get around what seems like a clear limitation.
I'll keep looking for a more elegant solution over the next couple of days, and give this a go if nothing "cleaner" turns up.
