Hi Marco, could you try again with different quality settings on your hardware fax? I see 1728 x 540 in your spandsp log. I think spandsp is only compatible with : standard: width=1728 x length=1128 fine: width=1728 x length=2252 super-fine: width=1728 x length=4491 which are the 3 resolution you commonly find in G3 faxes.
