All echo cancelers using Zaptel/DAHDI already disable themselves when FAX or modem communications are used, based on reception and detection of the CED tone that FAX machines and modems generate to make that happen. You can tell this happened by looking at the channel in Asterisk using 'zap show channel' or 'dahdi show channel' as it will show you that the echo canceler was disabled automatically. -- Kevin P.
