Up to Asterisk 1.0.x:

channels/chan_zap.c:
static char *typecompat = "Tor";        /* Retain compatibility with chan_tor */

Aparantly chan_tor was added in 0.1.7 and removed (merged into chan_zap) 
in 0.1.9 .

So the version of Asterisk here is 1.0 .
