Moving from Asterisk 1.4 to 1.6 is not a 'simple changeover' :-) It's a major upgrade. In spite of that, for the time being chan_dahdi in Asterisk 1.6 requires that res_smdi be loaded first. If you are manually loading modules (instead of using 'autoload=yes' in /etc/asterisk/modules.conf'), you need to ensure that you load res_smdi before chan_dahdi. There are other modules that have dependencies like this as well, you can see what they are by running 'make menuselect' and looking at the dependency list for each module you want to load. -- Kevin P.
