Why? In most cases such special things can be immplemented in the
dialplan. Please convince us that this cannot be implemented using plain
dialplan.

If you have a patch to Asterisk, your main focus should be to integrate
it into Asterisk. Likewise, if you have a patch to FreePBX, your main
focus should be to integrate it into FreePBX.
Even though Asterisk developers will not accept new features for the
current version included in Trixbox, getting your patch included in
Asterisk means it will eventually be included there and thus not be a
change that Trixbox will have to maintain for eternity. The review
process for accepting patches is also a huge sanity check for your code.
