Just in case you happen to be interested in the more established and 
uncontroversial aspects of mailing list usage convention:

This should have been posted as a reply into the existing thread 
("Hardware Requirement for asterisk"), rather than as a new post.

The sequence and relationship of posts dictates how their presentation 
is organised by e-mail clients as well as web-based mailing list 
archives.  Needless to say, keeping threads together is an important 
aspect of the usability of the list.

Let me put it this way:  if everyone did what you just did, the 
mailing list would be almost useless.
