uname -r
2.6.18-128.el5PAE


to install kernel-devel i used yum in beginning . Then used rpms. Then
upgraded the kernel .. using this link

several other tries like completely upgrading the system...   This issue has
ruined my continuous 36 hours  with out sleep

One  thing i have in mind is to install ubuntu instead of centos to get rid
of this  issue. I may try this on Monday.
