Bear in mind that there is no real 1:1 parity in IT salaries. In the US we earn significantly more for our IT efforts than in the UK. To give you an example, when I moved from London to New York I got a 4 fold pay rise in real terms for doing exactly the same job. I was on 28K GBP over there and got paid 120K US$ over here.
