I'm also a bit confused about what's possible and not possible. Anyway, my understanding is : - you can directly query an LDAP directory from your dialplan (LDAPget), - you can also use Asterisk Realtime Architecture and use LDAP as a backend. It can be used with any Asterisk version (at least 1.4 and later).
