Why not use DAHDI 2.5.0.2 then? The problem that you are describing was addressed in commit r9721 "dahdi: Experimentally remove dependency on the Big Kernel Lock." [1] and is in 2.4.1. So I believe you should be good to go with dahdi-linux 2.4.1.2. [1] http://svnview.digium.com/svn/dahdi?view=revision&revision=9721 Keep in mind that the 2.4 branch isn't actively maintained so whether or not it continues to get back ported patches as the linux kernel interfaces change is going to be ad-hoc at best.
