how about something like this:
pbx@pbx:~$ grep -v "^;" /etc/asterisk/cdr_mysql.conf
[global]
hostname=localhost
dbname=dbname
table=tablename
password=password
user=username
port=3306
sock=/tmp/mysql.sock
timezone=CET ; Previously called usegmtime
[columns]
alias start => calldate
pbx@pbx:~$
It seems nice, but ho do u use it?
